Happy New Year Everyone!

Man I've been really horrible on updating this blog. I used to do it everyday, then every week now its once a month. Anyway, Happy New Year everyone! So far 2009 has been awesome for our family. As of New Year's Eve, Derek can now roll on his tummy. In fact, as of today, he can stay in that position for a good 10 minutes and he enjoys it! Before we know it, he's going to start crawling all over the place. There have been a lot of milestones this month besides him laying on his belly. Derek now tries to reach his toes and pays really good attention to his hands. When he's on his belly for a lengthly period of time, tries to use his fingers to reach for toys that are placed in front of him. A great thing that we discovered is that we can put him to sleep by holding him in our arms and dancing to hip hop, R&B and other modern music. Lots of great things are happening with our little boy and our happy family. We can't wait for what's in store for this year!

As for a milestone for Derek's Auntie Chelle, it was the first time that she held him. We remember when she was scared to hold Derek because of his size. 4 months later, Chelle came down twice to seem him and during her second visit, she actually held and interacted with Derek. Too bad the Chargers lost that day against the Steelers.
My mom and dad went to Philippines this month and they normally watch Derek during the weekdays (except for Fridays since Erica has the day off). In their absence, we are blessed to have Erica's mom in town to watch our little guy. Its a blast to have her here. She's an amazing person and enjoys being around Derek and Derek loves his lola. He laughs and smiles with her and she makes the best fried rice! Its always great to have some fresh Pilipino cooking too! So far mom has been with us for nearly a week and will be helping us out until mid February. Check out baby Derek and mom reading together.

Yesterday, we took Derek's monthly pics with his Charger Bear friend. Man is he growing! Check out the monthly comparisons.
